In April 2017 we began having weekly protests outside Scotland's last remaining licensed racetrack. For three years we stood with placards, gave out leaflets and raised awareness of greyhound exploitation.
We had wet nights, quiet nights, busy nights, abuse fuelled nights. Many people listened to what we had to say.
But we needed to do more...
Each of us have, or have had, rescued hounds and we've seen first hand how greyhounds are treated by the racing industry. We've seen the scars, dealt with the fear and picked up the pieces of dogs that have been broken and discarded.
Scotland Against Greyhound Exploitation (SAGE) was founded in April 2019 with the aim of ending greyhound exploitation in Scotland and beyond.
SAGE works alongside other organisations that share our values and beliefs. We are grateful to Caged Nationwide for providing the demo materials that got us started.
We believe that greyhound exploitation has no place in modern society and by working together we will bring an end to the racing industry. We believe greyhounds will soon be as free as other breeds of dog. Free to live life as family pets, no longer commodities that are used and abused then dumped. We believe in using the power of the media to get word out there that greyhound exploitation has had its day.
